From the base of Trajan's Column
From the lapidary capitals on the base of
Trajan's Coulmn in the Forum of Trajan, Rome, dated 113 AD.
This always-visible monument was an inspiration for many,
and the beauty of the lettering is accompaied by
subtlety: because the top line of lettering is about
two metres above eye-level, that row is LARGER than
the lower ones!
