Location:

Unfortunately, in the late 1980s, the Town House Motel was demolished. Together with this photographic record, the pair of balustrades are all that now remains of the Motel.

The balustrades have an abstract composition of irregular, rectangular shaped plates. The plates are supported by a framework of steel.

Originally, the balustrades were painted a dark charcoal grey which was a very fashionable colour in the 1960s. However, when the Gallery received the balustrades the original paint had worn off and been replaced by rust. Whilst the balustrades have been restored they are not easy to find. The balustrades are nestled in a low, rectangular undercroft, against the grey concrete of the Gallery walls.
